Instructions for WordRec4

In this program the computer will test your memory for recognition of simple words. When run, the program opens a window on the screen with an area labelled 'Click here to Start' - if you press the left mouse button - SELECT - with the pointer over that area, the test will begin and you will be presented with a series of words to examine. You should study each of these words carefully as you will be asked to recognize some of these later. When the complete series has been presented the task proper will begin. The task consists of the presentation of a larger series words. Some of these may be ones that you had seen previously in the first series - the rest will be new ones. For each presented word you are asked to decide if this word was one that you had seen previously or not. There are 4 response choices. These are:

Definitely seen before

Probably seen before

Probably NOT seen before

Definitely NOT seen before

You make your response by moving the pointer over the appropriate icon on the right side of the window and pressing the left button - SELECT. When your
response has been registered the left part of the window will clear and a new word will appear. This continues until all of the words have been presented. At the end of the sequence the large window will close and a new window will appear containing your results. Click on the 'Click here to finish' box to quit the program.
