VisiSeqInstructions for VisiSeq

VisiSeq is a sequential short-term visual memory task played on a 3x3 grid. In this program you must watch the screen very carefully as you will be trying to learn and reproduce a sequence containing between 1 and 25 events. An event is merely the appearance of a red disc in one of the cells of the grid. When a trial is started the computer chooses a sequence to be learned. The computer then displays the first item in the sequence. The time that each item is on the screen (display time) can be selected as 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds or 10 seconds.

At the end of the presentation, the task is to reproduce the sequence by activating the grid cells in the correct sequence. If using the 'mouse', move the pointer over the correct cell and 'click' on it using the left button. If using the keyboard, the keys 1 to 9 on the numeric keypad (right side of the keyboard) correspond to the cells as indicated below:

Whether using the mouse or keyboard a correct response results in the computer displaying a green disc with the sequence number of that item in the cell. If an error has been made a red "X" will appear instead.

If the sequence has been correctly reproduced, the length of sequence will be increased by 1 and the computer will then present the longer sequence to be learned. This cycle continues until either a mistake is made or a sequence containing 25 items is correctly reproduced.

Optionally VisiSeq can be run as either a timed or untimed response task. From the main menu response windows of from 1 to 10 seconds per item may be selected. Alternatively an unlimited response time option may be selected. If any response window is selected, failure to complete the sequence within the allowed time is also treated as an error.

In the case of any error the computer resets the sequence and if a new trial is started it will begin with a sequence length of 1.

Good Luck !!!!!!!!!
