TicTacToeInstructions for TicTacToe

In this program you play a game of TicTacToe against the computer. The game is played on a 3 x 3 grid. The object of the game is to get 3 ticks in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) before the computer gets 3 crosses in a row. The computer can play at 3 different levels so you should be able to find a level to suit your play.

After the program has finished displaying the title screen, you will see the playing board. If you wish to change any of the available options you may do so before you start a game. To do this, press the middle or 'Menu' mouse button with the pointer over the main window and you will be presented with a menu of choices. The top menu entry is 'Level' and if you move the pointer to the right you will see three choices: 'Easy', 'Medium' and 'Hard'. The current option will have a 'tick' alongside. To change the level, move the pointer over the deired entry and press the left mouse button. The 'tick' will move to the new level which will be operating when the game is started.

If you have !Speak - the text reader and simple talking text editor by Jonathan Duddington, the bottom menu entry allows you to choose which 'voice' the computer should speak to you with.

If you would like to obtain a copy of !Speak (highly recommended) you should contact the author:

After setting the options the game is started by moving the pointer over the 'START' icon and pressing the left mouse button (SELECT). Either the user or the computer may be starting and this and other useful information will be displayed at the top of the screen. When it is the user's turn they may place their tick on any unoccupied square by moving the pointer over the square and pressing the left mouse button. If this move has not resulted in a 'win' or a 'draw' the computer will then have its move. This alternating sequence will continue until the game is either won or drawn.
