QwikSumInstructions for QwikSum

In this program the computer will display 4 cards on the screen for a short period of time. You will decide whether these cards will contain a number of symbols (triangles, crosses, stars and circles) or whether they should contain only numbers between 1 and 4. The numbers are quite a bit easier to work with. It is also possible to use a mixture of numbers and symbols.

Whether you are using 'symbols' or simple numbers --- your task is to add the face values of the 4 cards as quickly as you can. After a selectable interval of time the cards will disappear. When you have finished the addition you should enter your answer by moving the pointer over the chosen icon on the bottom part of the screen and *SELECT* ing that icon by pressing the left mouse button once. Try to work as quickly as you can.

If you are correct a green tick will appear in a small box on the bottom. A voice will also say *RIGHT*.

If your choice was wrong a red X will appear in the same spot. A voice will also say *WRONG*.

You only have one chance to solve each problem - so after you have made your decision a new set of cards will appear. The program works in blocks of 10 problems so after each set of ten the program will give you some feedback on how you are doing and provide you with the opportunity to change the options.

The program allows the user to change both the type of card and the time for which the cards are displayed. The options can be changed at any time apart from in the middle of a block of 10 problems. To change the options press the middle *MENU* button to display the menu. Move the pointer over the option you wish to change to open the relevant submenu. The currently selected option has a tick in front of the text. When the desired option is highlighted - *SELECT* that option by pressing the left mouse button once.

Good Luck !!!!!!!!!
