The program works in sets of 10 trials. At the end of each set the computer will display your score for that set. At this point you can either try again or finish the program.
The program can be controlled by mouse, keyboard or concept keyboard. The selection of input device, sound level, display time and stimulus shape can all be made off the main menu - which is obtained by pressing the middle (MENU) button over the main program window.
There are three choices potentially available for input. These are mouse, keyboard or 'concept keyboard' (if an appropriate I/O podule is present).
There are three choices available for stimulus shape. These are line, circle and square.
There are nine specific levels of display time. These levels vary in the number of centiseconds each shape is displayed for. The higher levels use shorter display times.
To play the game using the mouse, you first click on the 'Start' button at the bottom of the screen by moving the pointer over the 'Start' box and 'Selecting' by pressing the left (SELECT) button on the mouse. If using the keyboard press the SPACEBAR.
After each set of shapes is displayed, the computer will wait for your answer to the question of how many items were displayed. If using the mouse you respond by moving the pointer over the correct number icon (1-9) on the bottom right part of the screen and 'Selecting' that number by pressing the left (SELECT) button on the mouse. If using the keyboard press the corresponding
numbered key (1-9).
Because the program is trying to continually match the difficulty of the task to your performance you may find that the level may vary quite a bit. This is no cause for concern.
