Instructions for PAL

In this program you will be trying to form associations between letters of the alphabet and complex patterns. You will be shown a complex multi-coloured pattern on the left side of the screen. On the right side the computer will print one letter of the alphabet. While these are displayed on the screen you should try to mentally form a link between the letter and the pattern. The display will not be visible for that long. When the areas have cleared you may be presented with a second letter - pattern pair to be learned. The number of pairs that you will be presented with will vary with your performance. The better you do - the more pairs you will see.

When you have been shown your last pair, the computer will pick one of the patterns to show you. Your task is to tell the computer which letter of the alphabet was linked to that pattern. You enter your choice by pressing the corresponding key on the computer keyboard or using the mouse to click on the letters at the bottom of the screen.

The computer will then tell you whether you were right or wrong!!
